About us
The Foundation for Health Exercise and Nutrition / The Kuopio Research Institute of Exercise Medicine (Kultu) has been at the forefront of this field for decades. Since the late 1970s, Kultu has organized the The International Puijo Symposium, bringing together international researchers, clinicians, and health professionals to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and advance scientific understanding in exercise medicine and related disciplines.
From the very beginning, Kultu has engaged in international research collaboration, building strong partnerships across borders to promote high-quality, multidisciplinary science.
Puijo Symposium has become a globally well-recognized tradition in the field of exercise medicine as it provides a unique opportunity to bring together the people working in this exciting field. The symposium promotes interaction and networking between peers, colleagues and both junior and established scientists during the program as well as social events in a special relaxed atmosphere.
In June Kuopio is an ideal place to experience and enjoy the special features of the beauty of the Finnish Midsummer season with a long daylight and short nights as well as options for daily exercise sessions in the Finnish nature and the famous smoke sauna in the middle of the lake district.
The Puijo Symposium continues to serve as a platform for cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary dialogue — contributing to better health outcomes and stronger connections within the global scientific community.
We would like to take this opportunity to cordially welcome you to Kuopio. May the symposium be a fruitful, rewarding and unique experience for all attendees!
